Q: What is the most painful spot on the body to get a tattoo? What is the least painful?
A: All tattoos hurt. However, each person will have their own response to the experience. The most important thing is to get what you want, not what you think you can handle. Don't let short-term thoughts of pain change the long term vision of your tattoo.

The feeling is more of a burning sensation, than a normal needle poke. The line work is the worst, as it is a more focused point than shading; plus the endorphins are just getting going during the start of the tattoo. Once the area is sensitized, and your natural endorphins are kicking in, the shading goes pretty well. We explain the difference like this: The line work feels like you are getting a cat scratch on a sun burn. The shading feels like the same sunburn, but being rubbed by an eraser. Don't let this scare you off... if it were so bad, it wouldn't be so popular

Women generally take it better than men (not always). However it can be worse two days prior and two days into your menstral cycle.
